MY INSURANCE COMPANY SAYS I DON’T NEED A REFERRAL. WHY DO YO

My insurance company says I don’t need a referral. Why do you want one?

Unfortunately, insurance companies can cause a bit of confusion with this. Although you may not need permission (referral) from your doctor to see an LMT, we need a diagnosis (prescription) to bill your insurance company. Assigning a diagnosis is outside our scope of practice, thus a prescription is required. Please note that most insurance companies consider a prescription expired at 6 months old.
